The first acclimatization summit on the Ecuador expedition.

Mount Fuya Fuya – 4 280m, reached the summit on December 15, 1999. The mountain overlooks the magnificent Mojanda lagoon. Steep slopes, except for the last rocks near the summit. An ideal climb for acclimatization..

After this ascent, Bernard stood astride the exact line of latitude zero, with one foot in each hemisphere. Only fitting for a man who had already stood at each Pole.

He continued with Imbabura (4 621 m) and then Cotopaxi (5 897 m), Cumbal, in Colombia (4 764 m) and finally Chimborazo (6 310 m).
